The "Fat Bottles" are now available in Gin, Red Bi and KGB and they are a hit from the Spirits manufactory located in Bad Kleinkirchheim. Bottled in attractive 3-liter bottles, they are the big stars and real eye-catchers on any bar counters well as in private homes. In order to satisfy the demand in a timely fashion, Ortner has come up with a unique delivery system.
In 1989, Wolfram Ortner planted the highest vineyard on Carinthian soil at 1,000 metres above sea level. In order to have a product available for his vineyard's investors right from the beginning, he began to produce fine distillates. This desperate measure turned into a business in itself, ambitiously run and with the goal of continually improving the products. The pursuit of perfection led to extraordinary products: coffee and cigar distillates, essences, Parfum de Vie, Mariage (a blend of Nock-Land whisky and fruit distillates), WOB shots such as Sin:it or Lav:it (concentrated, alcohol-based aromas, for long drinks or to enjoy neat - only a few drops are enough for a taste bud sensation), WOB 24 Karat (a powerful fruit-wood composition), WOBka (a vodka with a distinctive Nock-Land profile), and the aquavit from the range of WOB medicinals as an homage to a Nordic lifestyle.
In 1989 Wolfram Ortner started distilling in the Nock-Land - from there on it was clear: "Specialisation in special cuvées and wooden cask ageing of spirits". Today he can look back on 30 years experience but not only on this point.
‘Handmade goods for finer living’ is a widely recognised slogan amongst those who enjoy the finer things in life: high-quality, handcrafted products are made at Wolfram Ortner’s distillery and coffee company in the Carinthian Nock-Land region. The ‘World Spirits’ brand has also been making waves, and its inclusive concept has certainly contributed to the improvement of international spirit culture. The latest additions are ‘World Spirits Tasting Videos’ for TV stations and YouTube.
We proudly announce that in the year 2018 Wolfram Ortner bottled up his latest vintage from the Venti Anni series - the apple barrique cuvée 1997 is now introduced to the world and is to give spirits the opportunity to complete their VA collection.
And here is the story behind it
‘Handmade goods for finer living’ is a widely recognised slogan amongst those who enjoy the finer things in life: high-quality, handmade products enter the market from Wolfram Ortner’s distillery and coffee making business in the Carinthian Nock-Land region. The ‘World Spirits’ brand has also been making waves, and its inclusive concept has certainly contributed to the improvement of international spirit culture.
Gin has been undergoing a growing hype for several years and is produced primarily in the styles of London Dry gin and new western style gin.
This latest perfume creation from Wolfram Ortner from the Carinthian Nock-Land will fascinate gin enthusiasts and perfume lovers with droplets carrying a particularly fresh and natural aromatic fragrance.
In 1991 the "father of the edgy glasses" brought the mouth-blown WOB Edel to the market. Since then, all the angular glasses, whether the ones for beer, wine or spirits, all made a rather visible shift toward the design from this life artist – both in terms of look and function.
In 2017 Ortner made another bold move and went “out withf the stem and in with the style” in terms of his glass design.
After high-quality fruit distillates, whisky and elixirs, the tinkerer from the Nock Land has now ventured into the rum production. The DNA of this ambitious molasses project traces back to the Caribbean, but the birthplace of the innovative rum trio remains Carinthia.
But there is more than meets the eye
"Rum that availably exists on the market would be for me an unnecessary venture." - Ortner made that clear from the beginning. Therefore he focused on different molasses, yeasts, and the possibilities of fermentation and distillation. Progress report began in July 2016: 10,000 liters of molasses were fermented with five different yeasts and then distilled. Two different alcohol levels were contemplated: the Dark Rum was distilled to a lower alcohol concentration on purpose to achieve richer aromas, where the White Rum as well as the Blonde Rum slightly higher, which brings it rather close to the characteristics of a "Light Rum".
Orders for Christmas are possible as of now, either in the online shop at www.wob.at or directly in our WOB Shop in Bad Kleinkirchheim.
